Wo diese vermutete Differenz der Geschlechter ihren Anfang nimmt, soll unter anderem Thema der vorliegenden Arbeit sein, verfolgt wird ein sprachsoziologischer Ansatz, der versucht zu erklären, wie Mädchen und Jungen sprachlich geprägt werden. Wodurch werden Kinder in ihre jeweilige Geschlechtsrolle gepresst? Untersuchungen zeigen, dass die schulische Erziehung für Mädchen und Jungen unterschiedliche Maßstäbe ansetzt. Innerhalb von Peergroups herrschen jeweils andere Umgangsformen in Mädchen-, Jungen- und gemischtgeschlechtlichen Cliquen. Medien vermitteln den Geschlechtern ein sehr unterschiedliches Idealbild von "dem Mann" und "der Frau". Doch im Alter des Schuleintritts, der Herausbildung von Cliquen und der aktiven Auseinandersetzung mit den Medien, weisen Kinder bereits deutliche Unterschiede in ihrem sprachlichen Verhalten auf. Die vorliegende Arbeit verfolgt eine soziolinguistische Theorie, die davon ausgeht, dass der kindliche Erwerb von geschlechtstypischer Sprache in direkter Weise mit dem sprachlichen Umfeld der Kinder verbunden ist, genauer mit der Sprache der Eltern, der Sprache von Mutter und Vater. Es muss angenommen werden, dass die ersten Bezugspersonen eines Kindes - die Eltern - einen entscheidenden Einfluss auf die sprachliche Sozialisation von Jungen und Mädchen nehmen. Die vorliegende Arbeit trägt daher den Titel Geschlechtstypische sprachliche Sozialisation in der Eltern-Kind-Kommunikation. Im Verlauf der Arbeit wird erläutert werden, inwiefern Eltern ihre Kinder sprachlich beeinflussen und mit Mädchen möglicherweise anders sprachlich interagieren als mit Jungen.
