Inhaltsangabe: Problemstellung: In der modernen Berufswelt scheinen Frauen auf den ersten Blick nicht mehr diskriminiert zu werden - sie sind formal gleichgestellt und verfügen über dieselben beruflichen und führungsrelevanten Qualifikationen wie Männer. Doch der Schein trügt: Obwohl ähnlich viele Frauen wie Männer berufstätig sind, ist der Anteil an weiblichen Führungskräften - vor allem in Spitzenpositionen - im Vergleich zu männlichen sehr gering. Warum haben Frauen auf dem Arbeitsmarkt einen Sonderstatus? Weshalb kommt es in den attraktiven Berufssparten zu Diskriminierung? Verschiedene Aspekte werden in den unterschiedlichen wissenschaftlichen Disziplinen als Ursachen für die Marginalität von Frauen in Führungspositionen diskutiert: historisch-kulturelle, ökonomisch-wirtschaftspolitische, personalpolitische und sozialpsychologische. Die vorliegende Arbeit betrachtet diese Problematik aus einer sozialpsychologischen Perspektive, indem sie die geschlechtsstereotype Wahrnehmung von Führung als Erklärungsansatz heranzieht. Nach diesem Ansatz werden gleich qualifizierte Frauen bezüglich ihrer Führungsqualitäten anders wahrgenommen als Männer, weil das typische Bild einer erfolgreichen Führungskraft stärker mit dem männlichen als mit dem weiblichen Geschlechtsstereotyp assoziiert ist (think-manager-think-male-Phänomen). Mit Hilfe dieses Erklärungsmusters soll hier die Frage untersucht werden, welche Bedeutung Geschlechtsrollenstereotypen bei der Personalauswahl und -beurteilung von Führungskräften zukommt, d.h. inwieweit sie im Bezug auf Führung angewandt werden. Die Aktivierung der Stereotype wird in der vorliegenden Studie erzeugt durch das biologische Geschlecht von Personen, ihre äußere maskuline oder feminine Erscheinung und ihre maskulinen oder femininen Hobbys. Die Hobbys sollen hierbei als cues für Persönlichkeit und Temperament dienen.
