About the Book

Chef Jay has created a masterpiece! All of his flare as an Executive Chef from his home state of Connecticut comes through the pages in the form of delicious recipes and his own personal views on gentlemanly behaviour in both personal and professional settings. The Gentleman's CookBook is a new brand of culinary literature that blends cooking recipes and instructional tips with lifestyle. In this case the lifestyle of a gentleman!
About the Author: Chef Jay Lewis was born and raised in Connecticut. His love of culinary arts and music is clearly a driving force in his life though he never stepped foot inside a culinary school. He started out washing dishes and mopping floors. He bought the culinary books at Barnes & Noble and studied them while working double shifts in kitchens across Connecticut. The Chef even asked if he could come in early and stay late off the clock just so he could watch, take notes and learn from other masterful Chefs and restaurant owners in some of the finest establishments. Even after he became an Executive Chef for the first time, Jay still took a job on a loading dock, picking and selecting produce at 3am and loading pallets onto trucks for delivery. He's been a food sales representative and a Sous Chef. Jay has been a Purchasing Manger and Banquet Chef for the historic Goodwin Hotel as well as a bus boy. He prides himself on having to learn things the hard way and others in the industry speculate that this is what gives him his competitive edge. Even when people told him he didn't "look like a Chef" and would never be an Executive Chef or own a successful business, he never took no for an answer. Co-workers, friends and family credit his relentless work ethic for his rise through the ranks in the culinary world. He has been the youngest Executive Chef in Hartford. In 2012 he was nominated as the "Best Chef in Hartford" in the prestigious The Hartford Magazine. He has raised and donated thousands of dollars for local charities like the YWCA in his community and has recently incorporated his food service consulting company, Fud, Inc., for the anticipated release of his first wildly anticipated cookbook called "The Gentleman's CookBook". The Chef is young and energized and he is determined to be a positive force in his community through his cooking and his music. An accomplished piano player and singer, Chef Jay blends in humor and music into his fantastic cooking shows and demonstrations for a truly original culinary experience! Furthermore, this renowned renaissance man has acted in several off-Broadway plays in Connecticut and New York, and will be co-starring along side Felicia "Snoop" Pearson and Fredro Starr in upcoming feature film "Diamond Ruff ". The Chef is a six year U.S. Military Veteran, the proud father of two young boys and a husband to his amazing wife who is a registered nurse. Get to know this enormously talented young man!
