About the Book

A Gangsta and a GentlemanSynopsisMarcus 'Dec' Anderson is serving a 10 year federal sentence for armed robbery. He only has 2 years left before release. He is a stand-up convict respected by the entire prison. Unbeknownst to the prison staff and inmates is that Dec is engaged in a relationship with a Correctional Officer Keisha Gibson. The two have been secretly getting to know each other for the past year and have fallen in love. Things could not look brighter for Dec and his eventual release. He has the love of a good woman and his soon to be freedom.Another Correctional Officer has been checking Dec out. Her name is Meko. She has been watching Dec moves on the sidelines and has fallen in love with the persona of him. She makes her intentions known in such a seductively forceful way it catches Dec of guard. Before he knows it he is involved with two women and neither knows of the other.Coupled with that Dec and Keisha have been making plans for his release in a fiscal way. They have been conspiring to sell marijuana at the prison through Dec so that he can make a large sum of money before his release. Particularly now that they know Keisha is pregnant. Selling marijuana at the prison brings it's own problems from staff and other convicts. Dec has been using his best friend Gregory 'G' Barrigon to distribute the marijuana, but even he knows nothing of Dec and Keisha. Now that Meko is in the picture Dec sees a way to make even more money. He makes contact with the BGF(Black Guerilla Family) with Meko and conspires with them to distribute heroin at the prison. When the heroin is introduced on the yard it brings its own set of new problems. Paramount of which is the attention of SIS Jangus. Jangus is the Special Investigative Services officer at the prison. His power trumps even the Warden. But he is corrupt. Jangus has been secretly distrubuting cocaine at the prison through the Aryan Brotherhood. The heroine sales is affecting the cocaine sales negatively. Jangus is upset and suspects Dec and G involvement.Dec must evade the prison staff and other convicts of his involvement with Keisha and Meko, he must keep both women from finding about each other before he work things out with his feelings, and he must survive the attacks of various convicts sent by a corrupt SIS officer as he hustles drugs in prison. This is the world of a true gangsta and a gentleman
About the Author: Myron Bethley myronbethley@gmail.com About the Author A Gangsta and a Gentleman is a complete novel comprised of 670 pages with a word count of over 100k. I am the best person to write A Gangsta and a Gentleman particulary because it is my story...parts of it that is. I served 13 years in the federal prison system at one of the highest levels of security...maximum security. I have been encased within the Atlanta Federal Penitentiary, Lee County Federal Penitentiary, Coleman II Federal Penitentiary, and Edgefield Federal Penitentiary. I have an intimate knowledge of what it is like to serve subtantial time, and the verbage and thoughts of a convict because I lived it. But be that as it may I realize I am not the only one who has written a book coming from my background. So let me tell you how my book is different. First of all the setting is unique. The entire story of A Gangsta and a Gentleman takes place within the confines of a prison. Here I let the reader immerse themselves into hostile alien world of a fully functional prison ecology. They will hear all the sights and sounds, and feel the emotions of my main characters as they reveal to the reader their thoughts on what got them to where they are now, and where they would like to go. But beyond that A Gangsta and a Gentleman part of a trilogy. In this trilogy Dec will take the reader from the confines of a prison onto the streets of America. They will go from the bowels of the gutter of America to the corporate arena of America. Along the way they will see how it is all entwined together, so much so that what is perceived as wrong may be in all actuality be right and vice versa. For instance in the sequel to A Gangsta and a Gentleman I explore tri-consensual relationships, involving one man and two women who cohabitate. I take the reader into a household where children are raised by two women and only one is the biological mother. I show the advantages of this arrangement on an emotional, mental, and fiscal level as well as its disadvantages. I use subplots to hash out my opinions on societal ills and turmoils, in particular in how it pertains to Blacks in America. My work is unique, thought provoking, and challenging. In my mind is an entire world that operates totally devoid of the restraints we place upon ourselves in this world. I aspire to have my work talked about in book clubs. I aspire to change how people think...and I will do it one word at a time
