Allerdings wird das Feld der Sozialwirtschaft im Vergleich zu anderen Zweigen noch immer als eher schwacher digitaler Wirtschaftsbereich eingeschätzt. Die Anwendungsmöglichkeiten sind breit gefächert und wie auch in jedem anderen Berufsfeld kommt auch das Sozialwesen nicht mehr ohne die online gestützten Kommunikationsmittel aus. Die komplexen Herausforderungen durch den digitalen Wandel sind für das Management von sozialen Unternehmen nur mit Hilfe eines strategischen Ansatzes bewältigbar. Dabei ist zunächst im Rahmen der Entwicklung einer Unternehmensstrategie zu klären, wohin sich die Organisation fachlich in den kommenden Jahren entwickeln möchte und welche konkreten Ziele verfolgt werden sollen. Erst auf dieser Basis kann eine sinnvolle Digitalisierungsstrategie entwickelt werden.
