Nicht zuletzt aufgrund sinkender Preise für den Zugang und die Anschaffung der technischen Ausrüstung hat sich dWWW derart stark verbreitet und ist zu einem ernsthaften Massenmedium geworden. Es liegt auf der Hand, dass nicht nur die Nutzung sondern auch das Angebot stark gestiegen ist, was die deutschen Verlage eine neue Konkurrenzsituation bringt, und es diesen unmöglich macht sich der Entwicklung zu verweigern. Die Arbeit soll sich der Frage, inwieweit deutsche Zeitungsverlage und Rundfunkanstalten die technische Möglichkeiten des Internet nutzen, welche Strategien dabei verfolgt werden und ob dies zu einer erhöhten publizistischen Vielfalt führt. Hierbei muss anfänglich ein Augenmerk auf den Anstieg der zu betrachtenden Internetpräsenzen gelegt werden, sowie auf deren Entwicklung. Was ursprünglich mit der Freigabe des http Protokolls3 begonnen hat, wurde verständlicherweise nicht von Anfang an von allen Verlagen ausgeschöpft. Gerade zu den Hochzeiten des Internetboom sind zudem die technischen Möglichkeiten die das Medium anbietet beträchtlich gestiegen. Mittlerweile existieren zahlreiche Multimedia Formate, welche die Darstellung und Strukturierung von Inhalten erleichtern und verbessern. Weiterhin sind zahlreiche interaktiv nutzbare Techniken im entstanden. Für die Medienanstalten geht es daher nicht mehr um die Frage ob, sondern wie ein Internetauftritt realisiert wird. Ein großes Augenmerk dieser Arbeit liegt darauf, wie die neuen Chancen auf den betrachteten Internetseiten umges
