Der Ich-Erzähler schreibt aus der Sicht eines staunenden Betrachters des kuriosen Welttheaters, ebenso distanziert wie fasziniert. Und so endet Sperlings groß angelegte Geschichte im Hinblick auf die Fragwürdigkeit des menschlichen Daseins ohne Groll und Verbitterung in unaufgeregter Gelassenheit und nachsichtiger Melancholie.
