Las fronteras del sentido. Filosofía y crítica de la violencia se propone analizar qué significa el acto violento para la víctima y para la sociedad, con el fin de encontrar posibilidades de resignificación y reparación del daño.
Para ello intenta delimitar conceptualmente el fenómeno de la violencia ya que, lejos de ser este un fenómeno puntual o difuso, brota dentro de las coordenadas de un contexto histórico, social, cultural y espacial determinado.
Los autores esclarecen las capas intencionales involucradas en este tipo de actos, atendiendo no solo a la motivación concreta del perpetrante, sino también a las sedimentaciones culturales e históricas, imaginarios, contextos geográficos y otras actitudes que están implicadas en los horizontes de tal acto.
Otra convicción compartida es que el acto violento no busca principalmente la destrucción física, sino que atenta contra la persona de carne y hueso, impactando contra la voluntad y el desarrollo autónomo de la identidad.
Las once investigaciones incluidas en esta obra se presentan organizadas en cuatro partes: "Estructuras de la violencia"; "La vulneración del cuerpo"; "Violencia y racionalidad" y "Contextos de la violencia".

Agata Bąk es Investigadora-Profesora a Tiempo Completo en UAEMEX, México. Doctora en Filosofía por la UNED, España. Impartió clases de Teoría del Conocimiento y Antropología Filosófica. Trabajó como tutora en Máster de Educación de Profesorado de Enseñanza Secundaria de la UNED. Entre sus temas de investigación figuran antropología filosófica, fenomenología y filosofía de la enfermedad.

La forma en que la Universidad puede contribuir al combate, la prevención y atención de este problema es a través de los instrumentos técnicos, teóricos y científicos aplicados a la generación de nuevos horizontes de convivencia, a la revisión crítica del código moral -de trato con los otros-, a discernir dialógica e interdisciplinarmente las causas del maltrato, y a asumir personal y comunitariamente las soluciones a los problemas y responsabilidades en la lucha cotidiana contra la violencia que mantiene en vilo a la sociedad.
La universidad orienta su vocación con los pies firmes y la conciencia clara de las urgencias contemporáneas: pretende ser una universidad con perspectiva de género.
