About the Book

In From Pain to Praise: The Prose and Poems of a Daughter-in-Process, debut author Inacent Saunders shares a collection of poems, short stories, and journal entries written throughout her journey of adolescent self-discovery. Along this journey Inacent encountered such stumbling blocks as abandonment, loss, anger, alcoholism, and lust - issues that are not uncommon to many women, even "Women of God." However, these issues are sometimes hard for Christian women to admit to one another. This is especially true of younger Christian women who are constantly admonished to "live holy," and are often harshly criticized if they should fall short of these expectations.

The specially selected pieces in this anthology are intended to finally acknowledge some of the pain, confusion, and trauma - with an honest, explicit voice - that many young women have dealt with (and may continue to deal with) along their Christian walk. The pieces also portray the personal growth that comes by enduring the process of sanctification. As for herself, Inacent knows that she was only able to overcome her pain by growing in relationship with Christ, which then put her on a path to salvation, repentance, deliverance, and an understanding of her true identity as a Daughter of the King! By sharing her journey from pain to praise, she hopes to inspire other young women to begin or continue their journey as well.

PLEASE NOTE: Some of the pieces in this publication contain language of a violent, sexual and explicit nature.

About the Author:

Inacent Saunders was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. She first accepted Christ into her life at the age of 8. However, being an unchurched youth, during her adolescent years she gave in to the temptations of the world and began a downward spiral of destructive behavior that left her dealing with anxiety and depression, and living a life submitted to the lusts of the flesh. Inacent didn't truly start living for Christ until a life-changing encounter with God at age 27. Her testimony of deliverance and redemption is evidence of God's power to change lives. Since being born again, she has allowed the Lord to use her in many ways, mostly through her ministry to young adults - young women in particular. A Certified Youth Chaplain and a powerful prayer warrior, Inacent faithfully devotes her time and resources to the upkeep of the Kingdom of God.

Professionally, Inacent has been a dedicated youth-worker and nonprofit professional for more than 15 years, serving in various areas of youth development including sexuality education, gang prevention, after school programming, and leadership development. From Pain to Praise is her first published work.
