Jaggemath was born in Trinidad where he was educated under the British education system. He taught in elementary and secondary schools, as well as for the extra-mural department of the University of the West Indies in Trinidad. In the 1960s, he immigrated to Canada to further his education at McMaster University, University of Toronto, Brock University and York University. For decades he taught mathematics and science at the collegiate level for the Toronto District School Board and the Halton Public and Separate School Boards. Awadh Jaggernath's well written novel draws you into the life of his acestors as they travel, make life changing decisions and live. It's a heart warming story that takes you on a roller coaster ride of emotions as you learn of the hard choices each side of the family made to bring them to Trinidad and how they continued their life after their indentured service was completed. Enlightened A universal truth as the author acclimatizes to the pitfalls and opportunity of maturing. This is an interesting portrayal of the aggression of predators, versus self preservation of the individual in a primitive environment. Life lessons to be learned.
