The FBI is supposed to be full of dashing agents ready to save the world at a moment's notice. But Agent Spencer Hammer was once assigned to a case about a lost dog.
In the hallowed halls of the agency, Spencer is at the bottom of the food chain. He has dreams of becoming a man in black, but deep down, he knows he's nothing but a loser. His ADD makes it difficult to concentrate and leaves Spencer plagued with anxiety and doubt.
Then, Spencer meets the gorgeous Julia Lovelace. Julia is desperately searching for her birth parents, who abandoned her as an infant. This quest, however, isn't why she needs Spencer's help. A colleague of hers-a scientist at a strange foundation dedicated to extending the human life span-is missing. When Spencer looks deeper into the foundation's work, he discovers something otherworldly about their research.
The foundation is in possession of a Nephilim, the offspring of an angel and a human. Spencer turned away from the Church long ago, but he will have to enlist the help of his old pastor to make sense of a shadowy conspiracy that began the moment the first angel fell.
