Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2001 im Fachbereich Deutsch - Literatur, Werke, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: "(...) aber Zärtlichkeiten am Morgen sind mir unerträglich, und mehr als drei oder vier Tage zusammen mit einer Frau war für mich, (...) stets der Anfang der Heuchelei, Gefühle am Morgen, das erträgt kein Mann. Dann lieber Geschirr waschen!," so und anders lauten Zitate aus dem Buch Homo faber, geschrieben von Max Frisch und erschienen 1957. An so einem Beispiel kann man erkennen, dass Walter Faber, die Hauptperson, nicht viel von Heiraten, ja von der Weiblichkeit im Allgemeinen hält, wie ich im Nachfolgendem aufzeigen werde. Der fünfzigjährige Walter Faber ist Techniker. Das ist sein Beruf bei der UNESCO in New York. Homo faber, wie er auch genannt wird, glaubt, dass man die Natur durch Technik beherrschen kann, was das Beispiel mit dem Rasieren und Duschen am Besten zeigt. Er kann es nicht leiden, wenn er nicht rasiert ist. Als er seine dienstliche Route ändert um einen alten Schulfreund, Joachim Hencke, der sich, wie sich herausstellt, in seinem eigenen Büro in Guatemala mit einem Draht erhängt hat. Sein Bedürfnis sich zu rasieren, also die Natur, das Weibliche zu kontrollieren, fängt als Erstes im Flugzeug an mit "Ich wollte mich rasieren - (...) Ich fühlte mich nicht wohl, wenn unrasiert; nicht wegen der Leute, sondern meinetwegen." Zu diesem Satz fügte er hinzu, dass er sich wie eine Pflanze fühlt, wenn er nicht rasiert ist. Dies ist ein Zeichen dafür, da Ivy ja Efeu heißt, dass er die Natur durch Technik kontrollieren will. Die Haltung des Technikers in ihm wird auch noch mal im gleichen Absatz auf Seite 27 deutlich. Er wurde von dem Gedanken nervös, dass es in der Wüste keinen elektrischen Strom gibt. Dies bedeutet auch, dass sein Rasierapparat dort nicht funktioniert, und er sich nicht rasieren konnte. Dies würde ja für ihn bedeuten, dass die Natur durch den Bartwuchs 'mächtiger' wäre als er. Auch in Palenque machte er von seinem Rasierapparat Gebrauch "
