Die Notwendigkeit Begriffswissen und Diskursfahigkeit im CLIL-Unterricht der Grundschule zu fordern ist unumstritten. Didaktische Lernzugange, die den Erwerb fremdsprachlicher und naturwissenschaftliche Kompetenzen im fremdsprachlichen science-Unterricht unterstutzen, spielen in diesem Kontext eine zentrale Rolle. Der in den regularen science-Unterricht integrierte embodiment-basierte Lernansatz (embodied learning) stellt eine effektive Moglichkeit der Forderung fremdsprachlichen und naturwissenschaftlichen Begriffswissens dar. Anna Bitmann stellt in der vorliegenden Arbeit die Ergebnisse einer feldforschungsbasierten Interventionsstudie vor (quasi-experimentelles mixed methods-Design), in welcher sie das Potential von Gesten auf das langfristige Behalten von fremdsprachlich sachfachlichen Begriffen und die Verwendung von Diskursfunktionen beim Wiedergeben des Begriffswissens untersuchte. Die Ergebnisse der Studie belegen deutlich, dass Gesten einen positiven Effekt auf die langfristige Behaltens- und Abrufleistung haben und signifikant dazu beitragen, dass Lernende mehr begriffsspezifisches Fakten und fachspezifische Begriffsfunktionen bei der Wiedergabe ihres Begriffswissens versprachlichen konnen. Durch die statistisch verifizierte Wirksamkeit des embodiment-basierten Zugangs wird nicht nur eine Basis fur die Forderung fremdsprachlich sachfachlichen Begriffslernens geschaffen, sondern auch die Abbildung des komplexen Konstrukts von CLIL-Kenntnissen ermoglicht.
