La formation de l'ensemble des acteurs du monde de l'éducation constitue une condition essentielle aux missions de socialisation et de réduction des inégalités de l'école. Pour ces raisons, cet ouvrage aborde les défis et les tensions qui traversent la formation des éducateurs en contexte de diversité au Québec et au Brésil, deux sociétés contrastées. En raison de leurs différences et de la complémentarité des expertises qui s'y sont développées, un regard comparatif est porté sur la formation des éducateurs en contexte de diversité de ces deux sociétés.

L'ouvrage La formation des éducateurs en contexte de diversité ethnoculturelle une perspective comparative Québec-Brésil adresse cette problématique en réunissant 12 contributions québécoises et brésiliennes agencées selon les principes de parité et d'alternance et organisées en cinq parties.

Alors que la première partie vise à caractériser les contextes québécois et brésilien, la seconde partie s'attarde plus particulièrement aux débats conceptuels quant à la formation des éducateurs à la diversité. Par la suite, les troisième et quatrième parties s'intéressent à établir les portraits québécois et brésilien de la situation en matière de formation des éducateurs en contexte de diversité. Les auteurs y interrogent les orientations en vigueur et leurs répercussions sur les programmes de formation, ainsi que les pratiques de formation des enseignants centrées sur des marqueurs ou des publics spécifiques. La cinquième partie appelle, quant à elle, à dépasser les modèles de formation actuels en proposant des approches novatrices capables de reconnaitre la complexité du monde dans lequel elles se déploient.

La perspective comparative sur la question de la formation d'éducateurs en contexte de diversité ethnoculturelle permet de constater que cette problématique transcende les frontières et qu'elle se traduit par différents défis et tensions qui traversent l'articulation entre diversité et formation des éducateurs. Ces constats confirment la pertinence de l'ouvrage, à la fois pour approfondir la compréhension des contextes à l'étude et pour mieux cerner les solutions adaptées pour chaque contexte. En effet, il contribue à éclairer la situation d'autres contextes ou pays, de même qu'à enrichir la réflexion sur la formation des éducateurs en contexte de diversité, incluant d'autres marqueurs de la diversité sociale.
