Excerpt from Form of Prayers for the Day of the Atonement: With English Translation Sacrifice, and as at aforetime, shall our meat-offerings be pleasant unto thee. Bless also thy people with the light of thy countenance, for they are desirous to perform thy will, and may it be thy will to do what we desire; look down, we pray thee, we are all thy people. Thou hast chosen us to be unto thee a peculiar nation, and may thy blessing be on this thy people, Selah. And for ever will we rehearse thy praise, and we will extol thy glorious name. And through thy blessing shall thy people be blessed, for whomsoever thou blessest is blessed. And whilst I live will I praise thee, my Creator; and I will bless thee all the days of my limited existence. Yea, let the name of the Lord be blessed for ever, from eternity to eternity. As it is written, Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, for ever and ever and all the people said, Amen, and Praise unto the Lord. Through the means of thy prophets, thy trusty servants, thou hast given, a similitude of the glorious honour of thy majesty.
