About the Book

It's a game changer! This book will help you to improve your game, both your distance and accuracy and to have more fun on the course through the unique teaching method I developed which fits your grip to your body using techniques from the study of biomechanics. You will learn that it is never too late to play better. Growing up in communist Poland where golf was outlawed as a game of the elite, I had never heard of golf until I came to the United States. I started relatively late in life but now I'm PGA Teaching Pro and I can help you!

I began my path to golf in 1998 when a friend who had hired me to work in his restaurant invited me to play golf with him. Work, for me, in the United States started the day I received my temporary work permit. Coming from communist Poland where I was forced to study Russian in school, I did not know any English, so working as a computer technician as I had been trained was out of the question. I was happy to wash dishes and at least make some money until I could sort things out, but his invitation to play golf that morning profoundly changed my life.

This book is about my own unique method of teaching and helping golfers of all levels improve their game. Discovering golf, learning the game, and developing this method of teaching was my path to playing golf. But in another sense my personal path to golf was coming from communist Poland to the Orange Hills Country Club in Connecticut, playing for the first time, and going on to become a PGA Professional later in life. I feel strongly, that as everyone's life is unique, everyone's physical structure and ability is unique, and so is their path to learning, playing, and enjoying golf.

The teaching philosophy discussed in this book revolves around the idea that my path to learning the game is not the same as your path. The perfect swing is not perfect if it fits my body and not yours. Often, I talk with golfers who love the game but are disheartened by a failure to progress. In fact, many golfers see their game falling apart rather than improving and, of course, this is incredibly frustrating, to the point where some talk about giving up the game altogether. That is why I started seriously looking at the way golfers grip the club, their balance, and the way they swing. The more lessons I taught the more I realized that treating everyone the same, giving them the same tools, was not going to work.

My approach is a little different. I focus on the individual's biomechanics. Often a small fix will cause a chain reaction and improve the swing without making drastic changes. But if you are a person who has taken lessons for years and seen little to no improvement, or if you are someone who consistently improves just a little and then falls back doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome you need to look for a different approach.

In addition to the practical advice I give, in each chapter I share a brief story about my personal journey to golf, my successes and failures. I believe it can benefit almost any player beginner to low handicapper. Choose your own path, skip the stories, and go straight to the meat of the lesson. This book can also be used as a reference to look back on because we all need to brush up from time to time. If you are not improving, you are falling back. Enjoy reading, and I hope whatever your path, you find something valuable to take with you. Happy golfing!
