About the Book

ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

Inspired by true events, Flores negras / Dark Flowers is a resounding plea against the indifference and normalization of verbal, physical, and sexual violence against women. An extraordinary and original thriller that forces us to reflect on the human condition and our contradictions.

Berta Martos is the host of a nightly radio program. She is used to her listeners' calls being about loneliness and heartbreak, but that night was different, on the other side of the phone a shot interrupts the conversation with the stranger who was about to make a confession to her. The scandal explodes on social media, where thousands of people blame the journalist for what happened and demand for her to be punished so that they can feel a sense of justice.

Forced to leave town, Berta decides to take refuge at her mother's house, a famous retired actress who wanted to isolate herself in a forgotten town, in a farm with a disturbing garden of tropical flowers. A tranquil and charming place where the ghosts of the past will soon be joined by those of the present and put Berta's will to survive to the test.
