About the Book

Great Christian poetry calls for unadulterated boldness & the ability to craft powerful unique expressions from real life experiences. The greatest words are created from & through the Word - giving light, hope, truth & Life. Floetic Ascension of a Lotus - Christian Poetry, Prose & Spoken-Word is a breakthrough work in every one of these areas. The subject matter within this book courageously scours the depths of the heart via such universal themes as overcoming childhood pain, understanding what true love really is - & what it is not, and what it means to have an authentic personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Through passionately transparent verse, the reader is invited to experience an intimacy that defies articulation. This book challenges us to look beyond our circumstances in order to reach beyond what we can see - into the dreams embedded within us that we've long since forgotten. It speaks volumes of wisdom while unabashedly whispering to the reader the details of mistakes made & lessons learned. It surprises, warms, probes & incites wonder. It llluminates the spirit & renews the mind... it could bring about breakthrough for anyone who reads. A delightful & easy read - the poetry & prose is written without qualms and avoids complicated abstract 'word play'. It is the Author's desire that anyone who picks up this book will be able to comprehend & relate without the need for a dictionary or interpreter! This is a dynamic work that pushes the envelope in terms of what is 'Christian' and what is Pharisaical or religious in today's world - & challenges true followers of Christ to stand strong & purposeful in the faith. The author welcomes the reader to sit & experience the love of Christ through such thought provoking poems as 'How to Find a Husband' and 'Beyond the Ozone'; Stand beside her as she unleashes the power of God on the enemy in such dauntless poems as 'What is it About Me' and 'Mediocrity'; Tuck your children into bed with such beautifully inspiring poems as 'Beautiful Ray of Light' & 'I Like Me'. Newton's original quotes will enlighten you, her resolute declarations will astound you & her forthrightness will impress you. There's something for every member of the family within these pages & is most certainly a divinely inspired creation to be treasured for years to come.
About the Author: Erika D. Newton grew up in the Western Edition of San Francisco, California. As a child of the 80's, Erika unwillingly began to collect experiences that should have never been garnered by a child. Those same experiences pushed and pressed their way into her adulthood, but the story doesn't end there. Erika has used her past as a launching pad into her beaming present and illustrious future. She is an Author, Floetic Lyricist/Songwriter who is truly inspired by God Himself. She ministers with vision and passion so that others may be lifted up, inspired and encouraged. With a heart for the youth, she is an active member of NewBirth Church in Pittsburg, CA, where she has served as a teacher for 'Pre-Ignite', a curriculum based Pre-Teen Youth ministry. She is currently working on releasing a Floetic music cd as a tribute to Jesus Christ - exalting His Name & honoring Him using the musical talents He has so graciously given her. As a testament of God's faithfulness and divine healing, Erika's goal is to allow God to use her to minister His Word in multiple mediums. She looks forward to writing more poetry, short stories and stage plays that will tug at the hearts of those who are lost and teetering precariously on the edge of hopelessness. Erika currently lives in Northern, CA and has four children and three grandchildren.
