About the Book

Kate Carpenter was hoping for a peaceful start to her summer but a serial killer is stalking her neighbourhood. The Bishop leaves distinctive clues on each of his victims: a game piece, rearranged clothing and a missing body part. Kate and her friends are working the first festival of the summer but the cheerful atmosphere, amidst the clowns, bands and face-painters, is spoilt after yet another body is found - leaving the streets of Calgary deserted at night and a wake of fear rippling across the city. After Kate has a huge fight with her boyfriend, she is plagued by a member of the festival's staff she is supervising, and is terrified that one of the volunteers could be the serial killer. And she starts to forget how much she is missing her boyfriend, Cam . . . A lost child, a kidnapped woman and a dead body all convince Kate that her life is on the line. Surrounded by strangers, and not knowing who to believe, will Kate solve the mystery and find out who she can really trust before it is too late?
About the Author: Deborah is the published author of five successful novels in the Kate Carpenter Mysteries series, distributed in eight countries. Deborah has also done extensive work in creating and writing corporate websites, brochures and other promotional materials. Her first play, The Pain Diaries, for which she won the National Pain Awareness Award, was produced in 2010. Her medical thriller, Mind Games, hit the shelves in the summer of 2011. Deborah has written two children series, The Magic Aprons and Charlie the Cello, the latter of which was adapted into a children's concert with original music by the Calgary Philharmonic's principal cellist, Philip Hansen. Charlie made his debut on stage, with the CPO, in February 2012. Charlie the Cello is also available in eBook or Paper Back formats. Deborah lives in Calgary, where she continues to write. She loves the exciting urban scene, with live theatre, festivals, music, pubs, patios and friends, combined with the proximity to the Rocky Mountains and great fresh air activities. Watch for a new Kate Carpenter novel, Ghost of a Chance, to appear early next year and for news on The Pain Diaries at Deborah's website: www.deborahnicholson.com
