"Amazed were we with pure delight / Of God's gift of love on Christmas night."
So begins "God's Gift of Love," one of the many moving Christmas poems from Sandra Y. Sharpe's debut collection. Flickering Lights, Blinking Lights was inspired by a winter's drive through the author's childhood neighborhood, beautifully decked out for the holidays. That first poem grew into an entire book of holiday verse as she remembered all the wonderful and important details that make up Christmas.
Capturing the childlike awe of the season, Sharpe's poems range from lighthearted rhymes about Santa to heartfelt prayers proclaiming the goodness of God. Join her in marveling over decorations, finding comfort in time spent with family and friends, and rejoicing in the love of Christ.
Flickering Lights, Blinking Lights is an embodiment of the cheerful and compassionate spirit of the season, illuminating how God shines through people in ordinary and extraordinary ways. It's an invitation to make the most of this magical time of year: "Awaken Christmas Day with love / For all mankind and second chances."
