About the Book

Flatlined 2 NGauge is the autobiography of Dewayne Rembert. His grandmother was his primary caregiver; his mom was in and out of his life; there was no dad. The only major male influences in his life were alcoholics. His grandmother took him to church, but he never heard the gospel. She stopped going to church because of her fading health around Dewayne's junior year of high school. Dewayne became filled with so much anger. His first remembrance of interaction with the church was when a lady there was when told him sternly, "Boy, pull your pants up and get them earrings out your ear: you're going to hell." Later on, in his teenage years, he watched as a preacher at a neighborhood gambling/shot house gambled and drank. From that point on his perception of the church was completely warped. Then, there was the incident with a high school administrator that occurred in Dewayne's eleventh grade year: he was with two of his of his friends and the administrator asked both of them about their futures, mentioning the necessary paperwork and steps to gain admission to college and the military, yet he never acknowledged Dewayne. From that moment on, he didn't care what happened to him anymore; after all, it had been confirmed to him that he was a loser, a nobody. At that point, he became involved in everything bad: stealing from stores and homes, being sexually immoral, dabbling in the drug game, pretty much everything but rape and murder.Despite all this, he graduated and moved to Montgomery where he ended up becoming the General Manager of a well-known chain in the hotel business. Today he serves as Ministry Resident for Montgomery Baptist Association, Youth Pastor at Strong Tower Church at Washington Park, and the founder of Flatline Movement. Dewayne is married to his wonderful wife Leslie and is the father of three children: Devin age 16, Dorian age 13 and Journi age 7.
About the Author: Dewayne Rembert grew up in Linden, Alabama. He has been married to his best friend Leslie for sixteen years and they have three wonderful children, Devin 16, Dorian 13, and Journi 6. There were good times in his life but deep down inside he felt the pain and rejection of being raised in the absence of a father. His grandmother became his guardian because at that time his mother was not really involved in his life. Despite seeing himself as "not good enough" during the days of his youth, he somehow was able to move up the corporate ladder in a well-respected hotel chain after graduating from high school. He heard the Gospel for the first time on February 3, 2002, at 11:17 A.M. and his life was never the same again. Later he became the General Manager of the hotel. He served as a deacon for seven years at his church and during that time of service, he was stirred with a passion to reach young people for Christ. This passion to share the Gospel with youth led to God speaking to his Pastor concerning him becoming the new Youth Pastor. That was in 2009. While serving as Youth Pastor at his church, doors began to open for many speaking a serving engagement for youth all over the State. He felt a "new effective" calling on his life. Then God gave him the unction to start The Flatline Movement. The objective of this ministry is to take the Gospel to the streets of Montgomery and other cities throughout Alabama through the use of music, mentoring/discipleship/, and sports. So, he resigned from his job to answer this call by faith in Jesus. Then an interesting opportunity recently presented itself when Dewayne was asked if Flatline would sponsor one of Montgomery's top high school AAU basketball teams. He has been able to hold Bible studies with this elite group of high school basketball players. God saw fit to move him to Strong Tower at Washington Park in Montgomery, AL as their new youth pastor. It made since he became the Chaplain for Carver High School Football team which was the community high school. He is also the Ministry Resident for Montgomery Baptist Association where he serves now.
