About the Book

Fishing For Horses begins in a typical Cape Cod town, mostly populated with tourists in the summer season, but also has some townies. Morgan, owns a cottage that belonged to her late parents. They vacationed there every summer. She works for an up-and-coming graphic design firm in Providence, Rhode Island. The company is modern, young, innovative, and flexible to their young talent. They award Morgan the luxury of working remotely over the summer, only travelling back to the office, when absolutely necessary. For extra money, she has a bartending job at a busy night spot, near her Cape cottage, called "The Tail" where she has been working since she was a teenager. She was an equestrian her whole life. She rode in high level show jumping circuits, often travelling far from home to compete. During one of her shows, in Kentucky, her parents met their untimely deaths. The news was kept from her until the day was finished. After that, she quit riding and sold her horse, Champ. It became too painful for her to enjoy her sport any longer, without her parents by her side and she had guilt about their deaths being her fault. This particular summer, as told in Fishing For Horses, Morgan happens upon a handsome newcomer. First, she has a chance encounter at the local crowded coffee shop where they almost crash into one another. Later that afternoon, as she's doing dishes at her kitchen sink, she sees out her window that he's actually staying at the cottage that abuts her back yard! She secretly watches him for a while, growing more attracted and interested, until he catches her looking and she quickly disappears from the window. Then, he shows up at the bar one night while she's bartending! She's embarrassed to see him, because she doesn't know for sure if he actually saw her in the window that day watching him. However, he didn't act strange at all toward her, so she tried to be cool. There was a smile and a greeting, just like anyone else ordering drinks. Unexpectedly, he shows up at her door one night!Ryden is the handsome stranger's name, but he goes by "Ry." He and Morgan spend a lot of time together that summer. Morgan has an unfortunate mishap at her job and it forces her to make some new life decisions about where she wants to live and work. Ry is also going through some changes. He is a commercial fisherman, from Seattle. His family owns a fleet of fishing boats. He is on Cape Cod to scout new ports to expand his family company to the east coast. At the end of the summer, they both decide to go to Seattle together to meet his family. They had developed a really strong relationship. Ry is from a large and loving family. What he hasn't revealed to Morgan yet is that his family lives on a horse farm. His mother and sisters are equestrians. He keeps this from Morgan initially, because it was too difficult for him to bring it up, after she told him her story about her own horse and the baggage she carries about feeling guilt for her parent's deaths. When he brings her home to meet them, he knows he has to come clean. The following summer, a year later, they return to Cape Cod together. This time, an established and loving couple. Over that summer, he worked with a local jeweler on Cape Cod to design a ring for Morgan. Ry has a lot of plans for them. He does detailed research to try and track down Morgan's show horse also. He felt if he could buy back that exact horse, it would help Morgan feel like her parents were closer by. He knew it was a risk and he knew it would be difficult but he wanted to try anyway. Back in Washington, at his parent's house, he has a huge surprise for her when the summer ends!
