About the Book

Both a tribute to winter as well as the gothic subculture, The First Snow is a very personal story for the author. What started out as a simply thought for Transylvania, turned into a life changing event for the story's most memorable characters. The winter fairytale pays tribute to both the LGBTQ community, and to the disabled community. Transylvania is most passionate about giving people of every background a voice, which is one of the main reasons why she ultimately made up the decision not to include any sort of descriptions, or details about any of the character's race in the story. Because Transylvania wanted her readers to be able to fully see themselves in the character(s) who they can really relate to. So instead, you get to know the characters for their personality and history, and not for their physical, or ethnic details. The First Snow was not only written as an exciting tale, but also as an experience, and an escape from the real world. So please, join Transylvania and her alter ego, Solstice, and her friends on an adventure to save four magical kingdoms from uncertain evils. Solstice was gifted a snow globe by her late father for her thirteenth birthday. Encased in the snow globe is a small winter wood. Ever since receiving the snow globe, Solstice would get this weird feeling that she is somehow connected to it. Solstice meets a blind boy named Arion, the two become close, and soon find themselves on an adventure to save a magical kingdom. Solstice encounters a young boy named, Bethlehem, who is in desperate for her help. So, he magically sends both Solstice and Arion to the mythical land of Winter Eternal. Once they have entered the kingdom, Arion's eyes are somehow cured, and he now can see. There, the two meet a mystic being; Carol, along with her eleven younger siblings, including Bethlehem. Carol tells Solstice and Arion that Winter Eternal is Solstice's true home, and that her parents are mystic natives to the land. Solstice also learns that her father, Nyx, who is the king of winter is actually alive. And her mother, Tisiphone, the queen of summer, is planning to take over Winter Eternal along with the three other seasonal provinces connected to it. Spring Eternal, Summer Eternal, and Fall Eternal. Tisiphone plans to turn all four provinces into her own fiery kingdoms of hellfire and damnation. Solstice is in complete distraught and disbelief about her mother, and Arion still doesn't understand how he is able to see. So, the two are sent by the heart of Winter Eternal, a winter tree called, Winter Wonder to speak with the magical mystics; The Five senses: Sasheen, Hera, Inessa, and Thalasa. And the Brothers of Love and Hate: Eden and Ebenezer. Hera, Eden, and Ebenezer volunteer to help Solstice, Arion, and Carol in defeating Tisiphone. And to protect the four seasonal kingdoms, and the people within it.
