About the Book

This historic book may have numerous typos, missing text, images, or index. Purchasers can download a free scanned copy of the original book (without typos) from the publisher. 1898. Not illustrated. Excerpt: ... five thousand dollars, from thence to New York, and thence to England. I think it was about 1837 they were found. Of these the Mammoth, or Big Buffalo as called by the Indians, must certainly have been the largest. The tradition is that he was carniverous and still exists in the northern parts of America.
