About the Book

Pures are those very few who find, usually by accident, that they live longer than other people, called Normals. They heal faster, have a complete resistance to illness, disease, and even poisons, and have an unusual means of time travel; they "skip" periods of time. Everyone moves through time, second by second in a linear fashion. Pures make skips of ten to seventy years. Their mode of time travel, like yours, is always forward, never backwards. The Pures come from different historical periods, and are between old and ancient. Known as King William the Bastard, Karl travels in leaps through time, becoming friends with some people others would call monsters. Gheret began life in a primitive tribe of brutish people and helped them evolve language and culture before he grew weary of life. Mary Parker, accused of being a witch and hung in Salem, Massachusetts in 1692, began her life in ancient Crete. Maximus, an elite soldier for the empire of Rome, was the best the empire had to offer, and is now a great businessman. Geronimo was a great tactician and War Leader of the Apache Nation - a loner with a single-minded, strong sense of justice. (Geronimo becomes a central character for the sequel, Pure Power.) These are some of the Pure, and they are dangerous, and will be around a long time. Perhaps you won't recognize someone as a Pure until it's too late.
About the Author: D K DEWEY'S joys and passions include writing, teaching, and people. He has done public speaking on a weekly basis for many years, and spends a great deal of time writing. He sees the stories of peoples' lives as so uniquely different as to make them small, localized masterpieces. To really know someone's story is to know that person. He has enjoyed relationships both close and casual, and feels enriched by the lives of others. His love for science fiction is a lifelong passion. As a boy he traveled with Edgar Rice Burroughs, Robert Heinlein, C.S. Lewis, Isaac Asimov and many others, in many adventures. In more recent years the list of authors he enjoys has multiplied, including C.J. Cherryh, Anne McCaffrey, James Rollins, A.G. Riddle and most recently, R.D. Brady. There are so many wonderful authors who contributed to his imagination and style that they cannot be listed here. To you who read, keep reading, and let your mind soar!
