Can you stretch? Are you able to accomplish the things you set your mind to? Can you reach your goals?
Many people achieve their psychological stretch when it is imposed upon them by a life-altering event. For example, the diagnosis of obesity might "stretch" someone to start and stick to a diet and exercise regimen. The diagnosis that you may need bypass surgery might compel someone to work less, more efficiently, reduce stress, and spend more time with family and friends than previously. So, a stretch typically comes right after the words, "No More, Never Again!"
If the goal is linked emotionally for the individual, then there will be follow-through and completion. You all know what I'm talking about. Each and everyone one of you have said, No more, not another minute. I'm done here, and I can't believe it took me this long. I must've been an idiot! Ok, we can leave out the idiot part, if you like.
And when your new distinction, or your new mindset wakes you up, you're in an ideal peak state to channel your resources of power to serve you. You channel your power to stretch and overcome. Some of you may feel (and rightfully so) that you are already "stretched," but I'm here to tell you, there's more there!
It reminds us of that rudimentary exercise we see often at self-improvement seminars. You know the one. They ask everyone in the room to raise their right hand as far as they can. Then, after a few seconds, you're asked to raise it a little higher. Predictably, everyone does raise their hand a little higher. The message: There's more there. When you think you've given all you've got, there's a tiny reserve left that can make all the difference between success and failure, between quitting and persevering, and between being a victor, rather than a victim.
If nothing else, understand this significant concept. There is more within you. This is the whole reason I'm here today, simply as a messenger with some ideas that can help. Why listen to me? I'm not saying you should. My plan is to expand your mind with these new concepts and strategies. Take what works for you and throw out the rest. This book is is different than most success books. It's about empowerment of the mind, controlling thoughts by controlling your mind to help you improve your life and believe in yourself.
