About the Book

Davit carefully looked at his face screen and frowned. His thirty-seven men in full up enhanced armor, connected through quantum sensors and buried fiber, waited in deeply dug in positions from the north Intersection of loop 333 and Highway 287 along the sort of 'L' shape of the East Amarillo Creek. One platoon of 120 mm Mortars were well dispersed in the Pavillard Drive trailer park and another 120 mm mortar platoon hid in the scrub between houses on Sherrill Drive. Davit looked wistfully to the east in the direction of the Amarillo International Airport. The last of the 82nd and their families were loading on the few remaining C-17s. He and his men had hoped to make the last plane, but the Russian 85th Heavy Armored Division was less than ten minutes north. Their job was to take Amarillo and block the retreat of the 82nd and its families toward the Gulf ports. Davit checked his sensors and map synchronized the latest feeds. Davit's job was to block and hold the Russians until the 82nd, and the many convoys of trucks and pickups were at least two hours away. Davit took a deep breath. Three other Recon Cohort Platoons held similar positions in Amarillo, and none of them doubted they would succeed, but they also knew that none of them would make it back to their families. The first Russian Tanks appeared between the mirages on the horizon, and dust plumes billowed into the sky as they roared down the highway. The Russian T12UM1 "Black Eagle" was the latest item pouring off Russian production lines near Volgograd. These tanks abandoned the concept of the original tank turrets. Instead, the crew lay almost horizontally in near jet fighter style seats in the hull. The turret is auto-loaded, and the whole tank operates via Virtual Reality for movement. The crew count is three and all systems are computerized. The standard bore size of each gun is 125mm.At five miles and barely visible on the horizon, Davit fired his quantum EMP guns. Almost immediately, twenty-seven Russian tanks ground to a halt and swarms of hypervelocity wasps punched through the top armor, killing engines and crews. Eight minutes later, small Russian tactical flash nukes that produced nuke round energy, but low radiation pounded Davit's EMP guns. Russian fighters began strafing runs on assumed positions ahead of the Russian division. Just a few minutes of flying through Texas' swarms of tiny hummingbird anti-aircraft clouds put most of the Russian planes on the ground, forcing the rest to rocket almost straight up, followed by the more standard Stinger and Paddlebox heat-seeking missiles. The Russian advance cranked up once more, and Davit let them get half a mile closer then MLRS and ATACMs rockets began arcing down and bursting above the Russian formations. Dual Purpose munitions and smart, hyper rockets poured on the Russian vehicles, and Davit hoped Putin's Imperialist Military Pogues (PIMPs) enjoyed the destruction of their multi-million Ruble tanks by two and three cent warheads mass produced in Texas' 3D factories. Davit smirked, thinking he could do this all day long then his vision screens went straight black to block light, and the ground reached up and slapped him HARD.
