About the Book

Volume 2, MI, ME, is a continuation of The Fine Society trilogy. The Fine Society, Volume 2, MI, ME continues the story, alternating its focus between a wider cast of characters, how their disparate interests coalesce, and the business and development processes involved in seeing their idea become 'live' and marketable. At times the story seems almost too smooth: barriers fall without many setbacks and serendipity plays a major part as everything needed on the road to success seems to fall neatly into place with a minimum of angst and problems. Perhaps because many of the characters do not come from business backgrounds, their naïveté on the subject is evident - and often refreshing. Who says success must come only to those with degrees or decades of experience in marketing and development? Or is there another reason for the relatively smooth sailing? The result of their efforts follow a clear path to achieving an objective that embraces the process of idea and discovery and its translation into a marketable product through a group effort, and is recommended for those who enjoy stories of innovation and development from the perspective of non-technical individuals who fall into an exciting business opportunity. All of that while still under the radar, their secret process still secure.
About the Author: Mr. Kent, retired physics teacher, wants the reader to experience an uplifting story and see that science can be enjoyable. His choice of Laura as the out-of-the-box thinking central character may serve to encourage young people to pursue careers in science and engineering. He wants to stimulate the reader's mind to consider "what ifs" and look for new solutions and better explanations. As a result he would hope the reader would make better decisions as world citizen because of a better understanding of science. He taught physics, math and Internet communications protocols for 25 years. His approach was to emphasize scientific concepts while minimizing the rigor. During that time his enrollments tripled and students were able to understand classical physics as well as grasp the more complex quantum and relativistic physics. Mr. Kent is a teller of his own speculative fiction stories. The Fine Society trilogy contains a mixture of real and speculative science. Since real science can be rather unbelievable, it can be a fun challenge to figure out which is which. By incorporating the science in a compelling story, the reader gently absorbs scientific concepts while enjoying the adventures of Laura and her friends. Even non-science oriented readers have found the story a captivating page-turner. In our current world of violence and extremes, The Fine Society is an oasis. It is relief for those looking for pleasure in a story of ordinary people making phenomenal accomplishments for mankind.
