The book Fighting Women is a tales of a teen-aged girl Uma, searching madly for her own parents who were arrested and jailed by police on charge of terrorism at her six months old. She was raised by Sam Roy, a widower (70) as his grand-daughter. It is a new kind of love story too between a young (teenage) lady Uma and an older widowed man, Sam. While telling stories of other women of various religious sects being tortured through fatwa of clerics and sexually abused by the males from father to office bosses. He also told how all those victimised women unitedly protested and eradicated terrorism from our world for peace and love. The reason, human being, particularly, women first expect love, peace and a secured shelter. He became much embarrassed when Uma came to know that she was a daughter of a Pakistani terrorist father and mother of Indian origin. She was terribly shocked and wept silently. Incidentally, she joined and was posted as police officer in Indian Jammu & Kashmir. She vowed to search her parents and ultimately got them. But was it possible for her to accept them? A confusion between duty to her mother land India and emotional sentiment fixed her to decide. He narrated to his grand-daughter, how oppression, torture, endless injustice etc. by religious clerics' anti-progressive fatwa on women made their lives hell under the coverage of religious code of conduct and taboo. He described beautifully how those suffered women organised a non-violent movement against those religious leaders who were indulging in killing innocent peace-loving people, particularly women, children for their own interest in the name of religion. He detailed his experiences how patriarchal society deprived divorced women without maintenance allowing husbands to marry as number as they wished. The book is with another romantic love story of Hari, a Hindu boy and his lover Maria, a Christian virgin girl who was attempted to rape by her step father. The audience of my book is mainly women folks and peace loving people of all countries.
About the Author: Pritis C Majumdar was born in 1943, the year of historic famine of undivided Bengal during British Rule, at very remote village, Alampur, P.S. Sreenagar, Dhaka, now capital of Bangladesh. At about age of four, he had to move to India with his parents and grandma leaving back their ancestral house and properties due to political reasons which caused the division of Indian sub-continent and riot killing millions of innocent common men, women and children by direct action provocation from a few self-interested political leaders . Struggle started since then in his life. He had to live in many states of India right from his primary education to University and also working life. He had the sharp intuition and interest in studying the wonderful characters of human beings ever met throughout his life while serving as engineer-cum- manager in Indian Railways. His practical experiences with people of all levels right from lowest to highest categories. It helped more to write this book due to his formal studies in management at postgraduate degree level (MBA) with specialization in Human Resources Management and M.A in Political Science.
