About the Author: Miriam Katz, M.D., began her medical studies at the medical academy in Wroclaw, Poland and completed them at the Hebrew University Hadassah medical school, Jerusalem, in 1963. After completing her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Soroka Medical Center, she spent 3 years as a Fellow and Research Fellow in Maternal-Fetal medicine at the department of obstetrics and Gynecology, New York Medical University Medical Center, New York. She is presently serving as the head of maternal-fetal medicine unit at the division of obstetrics and Gynecology, Soroka medical centre, Beer-Sheba, Israel. Her academic appointments included the titles of lecturer, senior lecturer, and associate Professor of Obsterics and Gynecology at the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Beer-Sheba, Israel, and Clinical Assistant Professor of OB/GYN at the New York University School of Medicine. Her Research activities are represented by chapters in four books and 72 scientific articles published in prestigious medical journals.
Israel Meizner received his M.D. degree (with distinction) in 1977 at the Tel-Aviv University Sackler Medical School, Israel. He then completed his residency in Obsterics and Gynecology at the Soroka Medical Center, Beer-Sheba, Israel. In 1983, he spent a year's fellowship at the Division of Obstetric Ultrasound, King's College Hospital, London. During this period, he was involved in the research regarding fetal and uterine blood flow measurements. Since 1987, he has served as Head of the Ultrasound Unit at the Soroka Medical center. Dr Meizner's academic career began in 1981. At present he holds the degree of Senior Lecturer in OB/GYN at the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Beer-Sheba. His research activities have been centered at the different applications of sonography on obstetrics. The harvest of his scientific work is represented by six chapters in different books and 80 articles published in international medical journals.
Vaclav Insler, M.D., F.R.C.O.G., completed his medical studies in 1955 at the Medical Academy of Krakow, Poland. After serving as a clinical scientific assistant at the 2nd University Clinic of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Krakow, he emigrated to Israel and completed his speciality in OB/GYN in 1966. He served as Deputy Director of the Department if Obstetrics and Gynecology of the Sheba Medical center, Tel-Hashomer, Israel, until 1974. From 1974 to 1979 he held the position of Director of the Department of OB/GYN of the Government Hospital Zahalon, Tel-Aviv, Israel. Over the next 10 years he served as Chairman of the Division of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Soroka Medical Center, Beer-Sheba, Israel. At Present he is the director of the department of OB/GYN, Kaplan Hospital, Rehovot, affiliated with the Hebrew university Hadassah Medical School, Jerusalem. His academic titles include Clinical Professor and Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Tel-Aviv University Sackler Medical School; Professor and Chairman of the Division of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Ben Gurion University of the Negev, Beer-Sheba; and, at present, member of the academic staff at the Hebrew university Hadassah medial school, Jerusalem. His research and teaching activities have resulted in writing three original monographs and serving as editor or co-ordinator of five other books. He has also published 37 chapters in different books and 136 other articles in medical journals. He serves as a member of the editorial board of five international scientific journals.
