According to Catherine Gueguen -- pediatrician, non-verbal communication specialist, and a renowned name when it comes to children's education -- the cause of this issue lies in an educational model that is centered on relationships of power, discipline, and punishment, and that, for a still immature and extremely fragile brain, is tremendously harmful.

In Gueguen's opinion, the only way to change that system is to rethink the teacher's role, and the key to this is empathy. Above all, the teacher must promote empathy: listen, respect, and encourage the student to express their emotions, whether they are good or bad. Make sure the classroom is a place where the child or teenager feels safe, valued, and loved.
