Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2006 im Fachbereich Ethnologie / Volkskunde, Note: 1,0, Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (Institut für Ethnologie und Afrikanistik), Veranstaltung: Cyberanthropology, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Die Internetforschung hat sich in den letzten zehn Jahren im Fächerkanon der ethnologischen Disziplinen weitgehend etabliert. Mit der Öffnung des Internets für private und gewerbliche Zwecke Mitte der 90er Jahre sind auch in kultureller und sozialer Hinsicht eine Vielzahl an neuen Phänomenen im Cyberspace entstanden, welche die Ethnologie heute vor neue Herausforderungen stellen. Konzepte und Methoden sollten daher überprüft, verändert und an die sich beständig in Bewegung befindlichen Strukturen des Internets angepasst werden, der Ethnograph muss sich ein völlig neues Feld zu Eigen machen, und neue ethische Leitlinien müssen erarbeitet werden. Die vorliegende Seminararbeit setzt sich mit dem gegenwärtigen methodischen und methodologischen Stand der ethnologischen Internetforschung auseinander. Zunächst wird der Begriff der Feldforschung geklärt, damit eine sinnvolle Differenzierung zur Feldforschung im Netz erfolgen kann. Im Anschluss daran folgt ein historischer Überblick über die Entwicklung des Internets sowie ferner ein kurzer Abriss über die frühe Internetforschung. Im Hauptteil des Textes wird eine Annäherung an die neuere und gegenwärtige Methodik der Online-Feldforschung versucht, die sich im Wesentlichen an den theoretischen Teilen der Ethnographien "Cyberidentities at War. Der Molukkenkonflikt im Internet" von Birgit Bräuchler und Virtual Ethnography von Christine Hine orientiert. Den Abschluss werden einige Betrachtungen zur ethischen Dimension der Internetforschung bilden. Fragen der Repräsentation von ethnographischem Material werden bewusst außen vor gelassen da dies den Rahmen sprengen würde. Ausgangspunkt des Textes bildet die These, dass der Cyberspace einiger spezifischer Methoden bedarf, um sinnvoll untersucht zu werden,
