On the eve of his retirement from the Los Angeles Police Department, veteran detective Clay Connor learns his brother Eddie has been brutally murdered. Though never one to play by the rules, Clay recognizes the investigation falls just a little too close to home and requires the soft touch of his gentle giant partner, Otto "Bear" Sikorski, to help him sift through the clues left in the wake of Eddie's death.
With a four-million-dollar insurance policy at stake, suspicions quickly land on Eddie's wife, Jane. But as the physical evidence at the crime scene sends the men chasing leads in different directions, they discover secrets from Eddie's past around every corner.
As Clay and Bear uncover unsavory truths from Eddie's personal life, they slowly piece together a portrait of a murder with shocking and far-reaching implications. But will the truth they find have the power to punish the culprit?
