About the Book

"A Father's Fight" is a ravishing tale of a father fighting to protect, guide, educate and love his child. The author invites readers into various parts of his life, as it relates to his passion to parent his child; from childhood to adulthood to his failed marriage and divorce against his will and beyond. Author, Anthony M. McDonald, Sr. not only highlights his own personal struggles regarding his parental rights but he also gives a brief overview of the discrimination and alienation that many fathers face today through the family court system and by some un-corporative co-parents and the effects that such action has on the child and society at large. McDonald cites statistical data from very reliable sources to support his argument. "A Father's Fight" offers inspiration and hope not only to fathers but to the entire family.
About the Author: Author, Speaker, Producer, Director, Humanitarian, Community Activist and International Playwright are amongst a few titles that accompany the name Anthony M. McDonald, Sr. As a child Anthony was dealt what most would have considered a bad hand; broken home, drug infested neighborhood and a community overtaken by street gangs and violence. Growing up in poverty in his crime-ridden section of North St. Louis at a young age Anthony was overtaken by the streets and followed a path that would soon land him behind bars. After much intervention and a quest for a new beginning Anthony began to defy the many odds that were stacked against him. On a quest to provide a more accurate cultural education for his now 10 year old son Anthony began to thoroughly study African-American history and began to see the many similarities between historical African-American figures and today's youth. Anthony became so intrigued with both his findings and his teachings to his son that he decided to pen a book to highlight and celebrate the many African-American Achievers that has for so long gone unrecognized "RISEN: From Jamestown to the White House." Anthony founded "The RISEN Foundation" a non-profit organization that provides school age kids with accelerated educational programs. Under the direction of Anthony "The RISEN Foundation" successfully turned 15 inner-city youth into published authors during the summer of 2011. Anthony has also co-wrote a stage play adapted from his book RISEN called "RISEN: the Stage Play" that will be produced under "The RISEN Foundation" and be offered to school age children at no cost as a field trip during black history month. Not only do Anthony concentrate his efforts on African-Americans studies he also addresses issues of gender discrimination and parental alienation. Anthony's latest book "A Father's Fight" deals with the inhumane treatment that fathers are often faced with in America as it relates to child custody issues. Anthony's life work and writings offers triumph in the face of tragedy much like his motivational speeches that he dazzles his attentive audience with. Currently Anthony is working on a heartfelt documentary film about Fatherlessness in America. Anthony is a proud member of the 100 Black Men of St. Louis and is the recent recipient of the 2010 President's Service Award which included a Congratulatory Letter from President Obama and of the 2011 Ambassador Andrew Young Award.
