About the Book

If there is one character in the New Testament that we can relate to, it is Peter, one of the twelve apostles. This book traces the life of Peter through the four gospels. It starts with him accepting the compelling call of Christ to become a disciple--a follower of Jesus. It continues as Peter's commitment grows and seemingly becomes unshakeable until that fateful night when he denied his Lord three times. It concludes with the restoration of Peter by Jesus after the resurrection. All of these things, his rise, his fall, and his rising again, help shape Peter into the great church leader as seen in the book of Acts.
About the Author: Dr. Robert (Bobby) Roger was born in Big Spring, Texas and is a graduate of Big Spring High School. He attended Howard County Junior College there for three semesters and spent one semester at Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, Texas. During those first years of college, he answered God's call to the ministry and finished his early years of education at Criswell Bible College in Dallas. In May of 1979, Bobby graduated from Criswell with a BA degree in Biblical studies. While going to Criswell, he met a beautiful young lady who would one day be his wife. Kim and Bobby got married on May 12, 1979, the day before his college graduation. Two weeks later, they were serving in Slaton, Texas. Bobby served as the music and youth director of Westview Baptist Church. Jim Wilkerson, who had been Bobby's pastor as a teenager in Big Spring, was the pastor there. (He is a "retired" preacher now and is an active member of Bobby's church today!) In June of 1981, Bobby and Kim moved to Sulphur Springs, Texas, where Bobby served as pastor of Trinity Baptist Church for seven years. While in Sulphur Springs, the Lord blessed them with their first three children: Amy, Nathan, and Stacy. In June of 1988 and with Kim being eight months pregnant with their fourth and final child (Julie), the family moved to the very top of the Panhandle of Texas-Perryton, Texas. Bobby served as the pastor of Southside Baptist Church there for over eleven years. In July of 2000, God called Bobby to his present pastorate-Calvary Baptist Church in San Angelo, Texas. It is during this time that he went back to college. He would be a part of the online studies of Liberty University out of Lynchburg, Virginia. Taking several years to complete his education, Bobby receive an MDiv degree as well as an MAR degree. He followed that up with a DMin degree which he received in May of 2017. The area of specific studies at Liberty University was in Expository Preaching and Evangelism. Kim and Bobby's children are all grown now and they are the proud grandparents of seven grandchildren. He has authored two other books, The Lost Art of Revivals, the book form of his dissertation work at Liberty University and Hardening Your Heart Toward God. Both books are available on Amazon. He can be contacted through his email at calvarypreacher@hotmail.com or on his Facebook page.
