It often seems that God calls for an intermission between the time we pray and the time we receive the answer. In the time of what feels like a greatly amplified pause, the rational of the moment tempts us to assume a responsibility that was never ours. Why wait for God when we could go ahead and fulfill the promise on our own? Also, why not make alternate plans just in case God fails to come through? The tone of these words may sound somewhat discordant yet they ring so true. At what point do we simply understand that God will never fail us? How long will it be before the Church can trust God? Why must the church constantly nudge and nag God to prove Himself? When we doubt God, it is equal to putting him on trial; asking Him to produce evidence or proof that He even exists. At this juncture in time, we must revisit the teaching of faith. It is a must for those who have ventured into a wondering about God and His Word. This study is about faith; a faith that responds to and pleases God. As we venture into a new millennium we can see the throng of worshippers flooding churches, assembly halls and convention centers in order to find a God that has always been here. How is it that we Christians argue great faith while demanding to see something? Are the multitudes crying out for God to do something, anything just so that they can really be certain He is still among us? How is it that these words are falling from the lips of those who have proclaimed themselves believers? People who claim to "walk by Faith and not by sight" seem to be the greater offenders. Faith for many seems to be nebulous at it's best. Real faith, Bible faith is not a theory or a wish. Faith is not a game of make believe. A game that we play until we realize that what we want to believe is not real. God is real. God is faithful and He will always keep His word to us. The notable thing about believing God is time. Time seems to take sides against us when believing God's Word. Our timetable and God's do not always match. When faith to us is defined as what I want now and what I perceive to need now as opposed to faith being what I believe now, great conflicts arise. Another question to ponder; when did God, the God that created the universe and placed man on this earth move away? Knowing that only faith pleases God, why does man continually seek to teach that there are other ways to satisfy Him? Have we lost the sense of God in such a fast-paced and stress-filled age? Have we become so accustomed to satellites instantly picking up our cell-phone messages and transmitting them back to the desired party that we feel God has fallen behind in the communication department? It appears that the cycle of demand is with us again. It seems to emerge every time the circumstances are not outstanding. True, there is great pressure on mankind today to produce proof that God exists. That pressure does not originate from God but from those who are the oxymorons of faith. Those who have been labeled "unbelieving believers" How such a term is allowed in Christianity is puzzling. God is never so gracious but rather places the force of the matter upon the questioner by calling his skepticism nothing less than doubt and unbelief. How many times does the master have to utter the words that cause our heart to shrink within us? Those words that he expressed to His beloved disciples, "You have so little faith! Why did you doubt?" How displeased the disciples must have been with themselves. Yet the good news is that there would be another opportunity to believe God. Another opportunity to take His eternal word at face value. To trust Him completely regardless of the circumstances, whatever they might be. If we failed in the past, we still can succeed in the future. It is not too late to enter the faith walk and please the Father.
