About the Book

Sean Edward is a pit boss at a major casino on the Las Vegas Strip who has everything; a beautiful daughter, fantastic girlfriend, half million dollar house, his beloved Custom Camaro (Pearl), and he is about to get a promotion that will pay him well into the six figures. After his 1969 Pro Street Camaro gets stolen; he loses his job, best friend, house, girlfriend, and is disowned by his daughter. He becomes a 48 yr. old loser living in his parent's basement in Jefferson City, MO. Sean is unmotivated, angry at the world, and is getting over his fourth hernia surgery in an eight-month stretch. After a family barbecue, Sean reluctantly goes to a car cruise with his brother and becomes interested in cars again. After he gets home, he gets on the internet and starts to research 1969 Pro Street Camaros. He stumbles upon "Pearl", who had been stolen sixteen years earlier, and she is for sale in Orange Town, Utah. Sean contacts the Orange Town authorities who look at the car and determine that it is not his. Sean's reluctance to never give up leads him to the Utah DMV, who is in charge of stolen vehicles for the state. After looking at the car, the DMV tells Sean the same thing. Sean goes to his friend Lance's house to hang out, tell of his findings, and get advice. Lance and Sean sit in Lance's man cave, talk about the situation, and discuss the meaning of life. Sean reminisces about Pearl, Las Vegas, and his old girlfriend, the mob princess Victoria Amore. Sean tells the story of his threesome with Victoria and Pearl in the middle of Las Vegas Boulevard.Sean decides to drive to Utah with his father; an 84-year-old, cantankerous sarcastic, opinionated, retired Missouri State Highway Patrolman, named Pop Edward. During the trip, Sean reminisces about growing up in Missouri during the height of the muscle car era. The trip also strengthens his relationship with his father. When they get to Utah, Sean and Pop are befriended by a Macon County Deputy who sets up a meeting with the Orange Town police. They go to the meeting and are told that the case is closed and it will not be reopened. Sean doesn't give up and gets the Macon County Sheriff to set up a meeting with the District Attorney. The D.A. tells Sean the same thing. Sean and Pop are devastated and ready to give up. They go back to their hotel room where Sean notices the Orange Town police report that he had left behind. He reads the report and notices that the VIN number on his car is for a different type of car. Sean and Pop go back to see the D.A. and are informed that they aren't interested in opening the case back up and Sean would be better off suing in civil court. Sean threatens to sue and contact the press, so the authorities reluctantly open the case back up. They go back and look at the car, and determine the car is Sean's. Then they try to get Sean to pay the guy who has his car, ten thousand dollars to get it back. Sean fights with them, holds his ground, and eventually gets his car back without paying for it.After Sean gets his car back, he realizes a lot of things about life. Living in his parent's basement is a blessing because Pop had a stroke and needs Sean to take care of him. Pop has become his most trusting and best friend. He realizes that money comes with a price and you lose out on life by chasing it. He also discovers that the most important things in life are nobility, love, and family. Sean cleans up his act and graduates from college with an education degree, gets a job as a special education teacher, and is reunited with his daughter.
