Este libro se plantea la pregunta en torno a la cuestión animal. La filosofía nietzscheana y postnietzscheana, con su crítica al modelo de subjetividad centrada en el sujeto soberano conduce, de modo inevitable, a la pregunta sobre el modo de ser del animal. Es decir, la pregunta acerca de ese otro modo de vida que hemos creído que nos pertenecía, que podíamos maltratar, avasallar y aniquilar. Nietzsche, Derrida, Nancy, Kafka, Heidegger, son algunos de los autores convocados para responder sobre ese modo de ser. Extraños animales plantea que el animal es otro, más otro que cualquier otro humano, y que por lo tanto merece el respeto a la vida en su fragilidad, el cuidado que reconoce la diferencia.

Mónica B. Cragnolini es Doctora en Filosofía por la Universidad de Buenos Aires, en la que se desempeña como profesora de Metafísica y directora de la Maestría en Estudios Interdisciplinarios de la Subjetividad. Es investigadora principal del CONICET. Autora de Razón imaginativa, identidad y ética en la obra de Paul Ricoeur, 1993, Nietzsche: camino y demora, 1998, 2003, Moradas nietzscheanas. De sí mismo, del otro y del entre, 2006, 2008, Derrida, un pensador del resto, 2007. Ha compilado, entre otros libros: Extraños modos de vida. Presencia nietzscheana en el debate en torno a la biopolítica, 2014, Extrañas comunidades, 2009, Por amor a Derrida, 2008, Modos de lo extraño, 2005, Entre Nietzsche y Derrida, 2013.
