Rubén es el poeta de un presente convulso en el que todos hemos crecido; el poeta de una tragedia que no tiene aún ni nombre, ni culpable, Quizás lo tenga y no quieran mencionarlo. La victima ha sido la inocencia rota con verdades. Estamos aprendiendo a ver el mundo, desde el balcón de los nuevos tiempos, él grita su dolor, quizás para acallarlo, cuelga su tragedia con frases tan intensas como puede: "mis gritos estarán sin sostenes sonoros", es su llanto de humano molesto, decepcionado.
El dolor de entender que toda la verdad es una farsa y aún así hay almas pereciendo es expresado por un Rubén que conoció la muerte por sus huesos y por su herencia; ahora siente que le debe a la vida este regalo. Quizás sin proponérselo nos deja una enseñanza, es muy doloroso descubrir que la vida se ha llevado cada año que respiramos, simulando que vivíamos, no importa; al final la esperanza es expulsar el sufrimiento al aire y absorber el oxígeno prohibido.
Es probable, casi seguro que en los años venideros podamos olvidar tanta tragedia, para nosotros quedará plasmada para siempre la agonía, un tatuaje que no significa desangrar la esperanza porque todos nos debemos un final y tal como dice Rubén de los Santos, "los hijos del cobarde no alcanzaron nada". Para poder seguir hay que cerrar capítulo y este libro es precisamente eso.

Cuando el poeta se sumerge en las tinieblas, nace la luz, desde el seno de la metáfora. Eso es sin dudas, la poesía de Rubén de los Santos, una mujer, en el sagrado acto de traer una vida al mundo. Sufre el hombre por la pérdida, el padre ha partido hacia otro reino y el lirismo de Rubén, se llena ahora, de una madurez incalculable, es la terrible experiencia emocional quien lo hace bello.
Ese es Rubén, un hombre de estos tiempos, que se debate entre el amor, la tristeza y la muerte. Un hombre, que ha sido segado desde lo más profundo, que no se amilana ante las amenazas y vive por y para los demás. En este libro, no busque miedo, ni rajaduras, no va a encontrar temblores o frases por gusto. Aquí y ahora, sólo la verdad. Y desde el alma.
