About the Book

When writing one of the chapters in Book 6 - The Conspiracy Theories in the Lincoln Assassination, research led me to the Knights of the Golden Circle. After six books, very little was found or read in their association with secession and connection with Lincoln's assassination. After reviewing numerous newspaper articles, periodicals, and others, I found where a Knight of the order, not disclosing his name, gave so much information in a publication from 1861, it difficult to fathom why such a minimum amount is written about this powerful and secretive organization. In order to finish a chapter in the Conspiracy Theories for Book 6, I have edited, corrected grammar, and delved deeply into all the players as written in this publication. I give most of the credit for this book to the unnamed author during my dissecting of the material sentence by sentence. On completion, I was going to used what was learned to help write the chapter in Book 6, but found on completion that it would lend to anyone studying about the KGC and what their purpose was.It is interesting reading connecting to a proposed invasion by Texas troops on Mexico in 1860, over twenty million dollars in gold and silver still unaccounted for, Texas Rangers and their association with the Order, and the list goes on and on.This book should be considered more as reference material when studying about the Civil War.In a survey run on my blog site, www.seanejacobs.com, only 10% heard about the KGC and less than 5% new what their purpose was. This is an amazing statistic as after decoding messages, finding evidence of John Wilkes Booth as a member or Jesse James as a member, or Ben McCollough, a Texas Ranger a member, why is it so very little has been written and published.I trust you will find this book about the most secretive society in the world and the forerunner to the Ku Klux Klan one of the most interesting unwritten subjects in history.
About the Author: Early Years Creative nonfiction novelist Sean E. Jacobs was born Sidney E. Struss in Eagle Lake, Texas, to parents of German descent. The middle son of three boys, Jacobs always loved reading, which was fueled by his grandmother, the Reverend Ada Slaton Bonds, the first ordained woman minister in the state of Louisiana. Jacobs married the love of his life, Barbara Jean O'Dell, in 1977, shortly after graduating from Texas A&M University. A few years later he became the proud dad of two wonderful daughters, Vanessa and Stephanie. For ten years after their birth, he spent time in genealogy, writing numerous local history books. After several hundred pages and years and years of research of the Smith Family History, his book writing skills evolved from local history books to creative nonfiction novels. Jacobs turned to his literary nonfiction storytelling skills, fueled by years and years of research and began writing down, with pencil and paper, a story that he'd been working on since 1980. With that first story, of course, history was set in motion. Jacobs produced several manuscripts over the next year or two, received rejection letters from publishers, and then, in 1995, sold his first book. The Author Emerges Jacobs loves writing true adventurous stories. Apparently he has a lot of pent-up epic tales he wants to release on the reading public: In 2014 he unleashes four novels in creative nonfiction. Despite the sheer volume of local history books, Jacobs didn't find his way into the spotlight until his debut novel in the creative nonfiction genre, ADVERSITY - Face to Face, hit the book stores across America. The book was an instant hit, launching his best-selling series, The Faith Chronicles. Success comes through Jacobs' approach, transforming real people in history from typical nubile heroines and cardboard-cutout heroes into more down-to-earth, realistic characters. His newest novel depicts the ins and outs of the Knights of the Golden Circle, the most secretive society in all of American history available from Amazon.com.
