The mystical journey is a journey of self-discovery. It is a journey of awakening to our true nature. It is a journey of returning to our home in the inner world. And, it is a journey that a Sonoma Valley drunk never fathomed he'd be on.
Rob Bundschu, born and raised on the grounds of the historic Gundlach Bundschu Winery in Sonoma, CA, grew up working for the family business. Living a wild, raucous young life, he drank almost as much wine as he helped produce and sell. That is, until May of 1997, when, at 26, Rob experienced a dramatic break with reality, a deeply disturbing hallucination he called "The Plunge." Hospitalized for mental illness, he was forced to resign from his position as National Sales Manager for the winery, and look for another way.
Unbeknownst to him at the time, this event launched Rob, a self-described "heathen," on a journey of spiritual self-discovery. Along the way he was introduced to Twelve Step Recovery. Then one night as he slept, to Rob's utter astonishment, Jesus visited him in a dream. What happened next was life-changing, and indescribable (but he took a shot in this memoir). Shortly thereafter, Rob became a seeker - bouncing in and out of book stores and attending conferences - until one day (at last) he found his path, and learned that indeed there is another way.
Startling, honest, and unforgettable, the story of how Rob Bundschu survived all the highs and lows of his life to return to the family business - now happily married and dedicated to a miraculous way of life - is a journey worth a toast, whatever your drink of choice.
