About the Book

In this, his seventeenth book, Doctor Maynard has once again written with pastors and lay leaders in mind. This is a resource they can use in pre-marital counseling, marital counseling, with youth and small groups. This conversation guide on money and stewardship raises the following questions among others. Do You Pay Everyone But Yourself? Are Your Children Becoming Financial Snowflakes? What Type of Giver Are You? Are All Charities Equal? Are The Wealthy Blessed or Just Lucky? Any person seeking to examine money and its use through a spiritual lens and in light of scriptural teachings will find this a valuable resource.
About the Author: The Reverend Doctor Dennis R. Maynard is the author of sixteen books. Well over 200,000 Episcopalians have read his book, "Those Episkopols". It has been called the unofficial handbook of The Episcopal Church. Maynard has also written a series of novels, "The Magnolia Series", focusing on life in the typical congregation. Readers have anxiously awaited each new visit in the eight books to Historic First Church. His book, "When Sheep Attack", is based on twenty-five case studies of clergy that were attacked by a small group of misguided antagonists in their congregations. These antagonists successfully removed their senior pastor, leaving the congregations divided and crippled. He has since written two additional books on the subject that have rapidly become best sellers. "Preventing A Sheep Attack" is being used to guide boards to establish mechanisms to prevent an attack. "Healing For Pastors and People Following A Sheep Attack" has brought comfort and healing to hundreds that have endured that nightmare. Over his four decades of parish ministry he has served some of the largest congregations in the Episcopal Church in America. His ministry included parishes in Illinois, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, and California. President George H.W. Bush and his family are members of the congregation he served in Houston, Texas, also the largest parish in the Episcopal Church. He has served other notable leaders that represent the diversity of his ministry. These national leaders include Former Secretary of State, James Baker; Former Secretary of Education, Richard Riley; Supreme Court Nominee, Clement Haynsworth; and the infamous baby doctor, Benjamin Spock, among others. In the National Episcopal Church he served multiple terms on the board of the National Association of Episcopal Schools and as a trustee for Seabury Western Theological Seminary. He was named an adjunct professor in congregational development at Seabury. Maynard was the co-coordinator for two national conferences designed for large congregations with multiple staff ministries. Doctor Maynard was twice named to "Oxford's Who's Who The Elite Registry of Extraordinary Professionals" and to "Who's Who Among Outstanding Americans." Maynard earned an Associate of Arts Degree in psychology and chemistry, a Bachelor of Arts Degree in the social sciences with a minor in biology, a Masters Degree in theology, and a Doctor of Ministry Degree in Congregational Development.
