Denn nur diese Intelligenzen könnten den Maboriern im Kampf gegen die unaufhaltbare Eisbarriere helfen, die sich nach einer unheimlichen Befallskatastrophe in Maborien ausbreitet. Nachdem Zeru aber das OBEN nach einem aufzehrenden und gefährlichen Aufstieg endlich erreicht, muss sie erkennen, dass ihr Wissen über ihre Welt völlig falsch war.
About the Author: Uwe Roth wurde am 27.7.1964 in Magdeburg geboren. Er lebte bis zu seinem 18. Lebensjahr in Morsleben, direkt an der ehemaligen Grenze zur Bundesrepublik Deutschland. Von 1982 bis 1984 erlernte er den Beruf des Facharbeiters für Keramtechnik und spezialisierte sich auf den Brennerberuf, den er bis zur Wende mit Freude ausübte. Da er und seine zukünftige Frau damals keine Wohnung in der Nähe seines Arbeitsplatzes erhielten, zogen sie nach Chemnitz, das damals noch Karl-Marx-Stadt hieß. Dort schulte er zum Industrieelektroniker um. Da aber seine wenigen, frischen Kenntnisse der Elektronik bei keinem Arbeitgeber fruchteten, arbeitete er fünf Jahre lang als Elektriker auf dem Bau. Nach mehreren Firmenwechseln stieg er bei seinem alten Arbeitgeber wieder als Brenner ein. Schon dort versuchte er sich am Schreiben, denn als Brenner verfügte er während seiner Schichten über viel Zeit, die nur der Überwachung des Tunnelofens diente. Besonders Science-Fiction faszinierte ihn seit seiner frühesten Kindheit. Seitdem er Raumschiff Enterprise in den 1970er Jahren gesehen hatte, war es um ihn geschehen. Während seiner Schichten als Brenner verschlang er sämtliche Science-Fiction-Bücher, die man zu DDR-Zeiten erwerben konnte. Sein erster Roman, ein Taschenbuch, das er las, hinterließ ein Brennerkollege in der Messwarte und hieß "Mutanten auf Andromeda" von Klaus Frühauf. Von da an lechzte er regelrecht nach den langweiligen Nacht- und Wochenendschichten, um weiter in neue, fremde Welten eintauchen zu können. In dieser Zeit verschlang er zum Beispiel sämtliche Bücher von Stanislav Lem. Aber durch ständige Störungen des Ofens blieb es nur bei Schreibversuchen. In seiner Jugend erlag er nicht nur den fiktiven Begebenheiten, die es im Weltraum zu bestaunen gab, sondern auch den wissenschaftlichen Aspekten. Daran war sein großes Vorbild, Carl Sagan, Schuld, der auch in seinem ersten Roman eine wichtige Rolle einnimmt. Denn damals schaute er sich im TV die Sendung "Unser Kosmos" von ihm an. 1990 begab er sich in den Bund der Ehe, in dem er sich immer noch mit derselben Frau befindet. 1998 bauten sie ihr Einfamilienhäuschen in dem wunderschönen kleinen Ort Bebertal in Sachsen Anhalt. 1999 kam ihr Sohn zur Welt.
