About the Author
Gautam Kumar Bera (b. 7th August, 1958), graduated in Science with Honours in Anthropology, passed his Master's degree in Anthropology with specialization in Social and Cultural Anthropology securing First position in First Class, received his Ph.D. Degree in Anthropology He is a recipient of National Scholarship for Advance Studies, University Gold Medal and Research Fellow Gold Medal (USA), and several other distinguished awards and honours at both national and international levels, he was elected a FELLOW of the prestigious Royal Anthropological Institute, London, in 1992, ADVISOR to the Research Board of ABI (USA) in 1996, SANSKRITI Foundation Fellow, and Stephen Fuchs Memorial Award, in 2009 of NEICR, Guwahati. Credited with authorship of fourteen Books and edited volumes, more than eighty Scientific research papers and about twenty five book reviews in scientific journals and books of international repute of both India and abroad, and over five dozen articles of common Interest and popular science in different periodicals, Newspapers and Web site he is attached to four international scientific journals as CA Associate, Current Anthropology (USA), Assistant Editor, Journal of the Anthropological Survey of India (Kolkata), Book Review Editor, The Oriental Anthropologist (Allahabad), and Consulting Editor, Contemporary Who's Who (USA). He is the Life Member of the Indian Anthropological Society, Kolkata and the Oriental Institute of Cultural and Social Research, Allahabad.

K. Jose SVD (b. 31st January, 1963) is the Founder Director of SANSKRITI-North Eastern Institute of Culture & Religion, Guwahati This institute is the anthropological research wing of International Society popularly known as SVD Jose is a Life-time member of this Society which has a number of Anthropological and Folklore Research Institutions World-wide including Anthropos International, Germany, and Institute of Indian Culture, Mumbai which is affiliated to Mumbai University. Jose has presented several research papers in various International, National and Regional Seminars and has organized the National Seminar on Tribes of North-East India (2007), Seminar on Tribal Development in Tripura: People's Participation, NGOs & Government (2008), National Seminar on Social Unrest and Peace Initiatives in North East India (2009), and is the Director of the National Seminar on Concept of God and Religion: Traditional Thought and Contemporary Society (2010) to be held at Agartala, Tripura. He is currently guiding various small research projects in Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Meghalaya and Assam. He has jointly edited 4 volumes on themes specific to North East India. His areas of special interest are studies in cultural continuity & change, Indigenous Knowledge systems for sustainable development, Peace initiatives in North East India and symbols as transmitters of culture.
