Die Werbung ist überfüllt mit Providern, die uns über alle möglichen Technologien den Zugang ins World Wide Web ermöglichen. In einer Umfrage geben 98 Prozent der 25- bis 34-Jährigen an, ein Handy zu besitzen. Die Vernetzung der Menschen ist weit vorangeschritten und die Mobiltechnologie erlaubt es uns, von fast jedem Ort der Welt an einen anderen zu gelangen: per Bild, per Stimme oder als Datenpaket. Die Menschen sind zu Beginn des 21. Jahrhunderts voll im Informationszeitalter angekommen. Der Terminus Informationszeitalter beschreibt die Priorität der Information als Ware und Ressource. Sie ist das wichtigste Gut und die richtige Information ist mehr wert als jeder andere Rohstoff. Der Soziologe Manuel Castells, der sich eingehend mit Netzwerktheorien befasste, erklärt das Zeitalter wie folgt: "[Das] Informationszeitalter [...] bezeichnet eine historische Epoche menschlicher Gesellschaften. Das auf mikroelektronisch basierten Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologien sowie der Gentechnologie beruhende technologische Paradigma, welches diese Epoche charakterisiert, ersetzt bzw. überlagert das technologische Paradigma des Industriezeitalters, das primär auf der Produktion und Distribution von Energie beruht." In dieser Hausarbeit soll der Bereich der Internettechnologie im Vordergrund stehen. Meiner Meinung nach ist das Internet das prägende Element des Informationszeitalters, da es das Verhalten der Menschen bestimmt wie kein anderes Medium vorher. Ganze Wissenschaftszweige widmen sich den Phänomenen der Vernetzung und der Kommunikation mit und über das Internet. Durch die Omnipräsenz und Größe des World Wide Web entstehen aber auch Probleme, die unter ethischen Gesichtspunkten untersucht
