About the Book

ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

A fascinating narrative meditation on originality in literature, from one of our most original storytellers

In a half-collapsed mansion in Cadaqués, Simon Schneider lives dedicated to the quiet job of providing literary quotes to other writers, including his mysterious brother Rainer, who has lived in the United States for years and has become a secret artist like Thomas Pynchon. However, it all comes to a head one weekend in 2017, when Simon goes for a walk in search of inspiration and ends up reviewing his story in the face of Rainer's imminent visit. The subsequent encounter will highlight two antagonistic ways of understanding literary creation, as well as a possible solution to the problem of originality, presented in this novel with delicious irony and brilliant storytelling prowess.
