About the Book

Essential Stage Movement is a comprehensive text/exercise book for future and current actors, dancers, and performers. The High School, College and University students of Drama and Theater Departments would find it extremely beneficial for preparing their minds and bodies for the profession. This textbook fills the gap in the specialized physical education of the actors. Different techniques and approaches existing and practiced in formal and informal movement education are eclectic and cannot satisfy the need to develop long-lasting qualities and skills quickly. Different critics and practitioners have improved this method throughout several centuries. It has been tested on many generations of students in various countries to prove the approach is universal. The Method of learning Movement for Actor supported by nearly two hundred exercises to help to develop all necessary for a performer Faculties, Habits, and Skills. Originated in Russia, never before this method was presented on the West in such detail and entirety. It is based on Stanislavsky's teachings techniques and would also assist Stage Movement Teachers, Theatre Directors, and Managers. Essential Stage Movement consists of three parts: The Theory, the Practice, and The Methodology. The text also includes a brief history of the subject "Stage Movement." The Practice part contains exercises designed to develop different qualities and skills. Among them are Balance, Coordination, Rhythmicity, Sense of Space, and Flexibility, to name a few. The Methodology part explains in detail how to present the exercises to the students for the best results. A Video Instructor course in Movement is available via the Internet separately to support the text.
About the Author: Edward Rozinsky obtained his formal education in the Soviet Union and has a Bachelor Degree in Geography, a Bachelor Degree in Stage Directing and a Master Degree in Stage Movement. Mr. Rozinsky started his career in Performing Arts at the age of 12 - first, as a folk dancer, then as a Mime artist. Since graduating from the prestigious Leningrad Conservatory of Theatre Arts Edward Rozinsky acted, choreographed, directed plays, and taught theatre in different institutions including his Alma mater. Mr. Rozinsky's extensive research in the area of Stage Movement and Mime resulted in a series of articles and a book, "The Silent Art" published in Leningrad. Edward established and directed a Mime/Clown group in Leningrad that later became internationally acclaimed under the name LITZEDEJI. Many of his pupils and actors of this company now successfully perform as clowns in Cirque du Soleil and his apprentice, Slava Polunin owns the "Slava's SnowShow" that appeared both on Off Broadway and Broadway and travels around the world. Prof. Rozinsky taught Acting and Stage Movement at the University of Miami, The New World School of the Arts, FIU and Barry University. A resident of South Florida since 1983, Mr. Rozinsky was a Founder and Artistic Director of Chamber Theatre, a professional theatre for children in Coral Gables. For a number of years, he served as a Chairman of Stage Movement Committee of the American Theatre Association and produced a number of Video Films on the subject of Stage Movement. His comprehensive textbook Essential Stage Movement is about to be published and a unique Video Instructor course is offered via the Internet (www.stagemovement.com.) Edward's passion to write plays began in Russia (where most of his plays and film scripts were produced.) Mr. Rozinsky has written several plays in English (some of them produced in his Chamber Theatre), a ballet libretto that had been produced in Kazakhstan National Opera Theatre, several film scenarios, and a musical to which he also wrote the lyrics and composed key songs.
