El filósofo y sociólogo Antonio Escohotado ha sido el ganador de la decimonovena edición del Premio Anagrama de Ensayo, dotado con 500.000 pesetas, por la obra El espíritu de la comedia. "En el origen sólo pretendía recopilar las conferencias que he escrito en los dos últimos años, pero después me di cuenta de que no era suficiente y tuve que añadir una segunda parte", explicó Escohotado en conferencia de prensa. Es en esta segunda parte donde el filósofo realiza una crítica al sistema de poder actual que, según explicó, ha adoptado las formas de la comedia clasica."La comedia antigua era una autocrítica que el burgués se hacia a sí mismo", comentó. "Tenía un tono duramente sarcástico y dos personajes fundamentales: el impostor y el ricachón al que se le pudrían las carnes sentado sobre su oro. A medida que el burgués ha ido gananado terreno y el dinero ya no es sólo el rey de este mundo sino también el del otro, la comedia ha ido degenerando y ahora no hay que buscarla en el teatro, sino en la vida pública". La primera parte de esta obra, que Escohotado subtitula Lo divino y lo humano, analiza desde un punto de vista "teológico y ecológico" diferentes elementos de la comedia en autores clásicos y modernos. La segunda parte, subtitulada Atormentar al prójimo, es un análisis de los valores del control y los ritos, colaboradores y principios de este control."El poder político y económico es un asunto en el que no hay más que ricachones, impostores, que ahora se llaman audaces ejecutivos, y bufones, que, por ejemplo, pueden ser desde el jefe de Estado hasta el presidente del Senado", explicó Escohotado. El autor de Historia general de las drogas (Alianza, 1989) y El libro de los venenos (Mondadori, 1990) afirmó que su actual deseo es pasarse a la literatura. "Son muchos años de escribir ensayos y quiero cambiar porque puedo empezar a repetirme", comentó.En esta edición se presentaron al premio 40 originales, de los que cinco llegaron a la deliberación final. Resultaron finalistas, ex-aequo, Las auras frías, de José Luis Brea, y La sociedad rosa, de Óscar A. Guasch.
