About the Book

The Escapes of Madlyn Witherspoon are periods of adjustment she must go through in order to handle the things that shape life around her. Being afraid of the battles that frequently take place with her stepparents during the period before her thirteenth birthday and the drastic attempts made by her stepfather causes her to follow her instincts and escape. Her first destination gave her joy until time caught up with her and her impersonation as a boy in appearance was soon to be shattered. She leaves a note thanking her benefactor for the opportunity and heads further north. When she arrives at the location chosen she takes steps to return to being a young woman. Overwhelming desires shape her future, some with shattering effect. Rigid adherence to a new code of personal denial allows her to grow and prosper leading her to a life she had dreamed of forever.
About the Author: Bio James M. Copeland I was born in Walker County, raised in Cullman County in Birdsong, Alabama. After my father died during WW-2 my mother built a wood frame house across the road from my grandfather. The state road that ran between the houses also connected Arab, Alabama, and Cullman, Alabama. It was gravel, and there were no electricity. I finished high school, got married, and headed out to the work force. God gave us two fine children, a boy and a girl. I finished two years of correspondence classes through Kensington University to help me get a job. I learned how to build cabinets, and take a jet engine apart and put it back together. Then I became a Warrant Officer in the Army, learned how to fly helicopters, and got my license in fixed wing single engine aircraft. I joined the sales field, selling meat products for the Rath Packing Company out of Waterloo Iowa, and then advanced to commercial foods for restaurants at The John Sexton and Company located in Atlanta, Georgia. I moved up to management in Kansas City, Missouri and finally purchased my own company selling restaurant equipment and supplies, along with selling, installing, and repairing American Standard Heating and cooling equipment. The name of my company was CAFÉ, INC. I am retired from the public work place, after many years of sales, management and ownership of businesses. I hired and fired people, studied psychology, observed actions, and results and gained an insight in the workings of peoples mind. This helps immensely the process of contemplating the things a certain type of character would say in any given time. I have accomplished many things in my lifetime, but nothing more satisfying than what I'm doing now. I have a great feeling of accomplishment just having reached this phase of my new career in writing. My first published novel, Bottom Bones, is spotlighted on my web site. (www.jamesmcopelandbooks.com) You can read the first chapter and make your own decision. The Escapes of Madlyn Witherspoon was started in 2009 and received many changes until the present moment. I have 16 other manuscripts finished that I am working on now for publication soon.
