About the Book

"Escape Under A Waning Crescent Moon" is the second book in "The Blood Moon Series." The first book, "The Blood Moon Sealed My Fate," tells the story of a child named Eamon who had the misfortune of being born into a dysfunctional and abusive clan deep in the Appalachian Mountains. The misapplication of the 'spare the rod and spoil the child' scripture led to his older sister, Sinead, being murdered and Eamon being left handicapped for life. Although Eamon is not aware of this, Sinead's spirit stays to try to protect him throughout his childhood, and she follows him to the city when he escapes as a young adult. "Escape Under a Waning Crescent Moon" picks up where "The Blood Moon Sealed My Fate" ends. This second book in "The Blood Moon Series" tells the story of Eamon coming to the city, finding his way with the help of a kind mentor, marrying and having a family, and learning how to be a better parent than his parents had been. He does all of this against great obstacles, with the unfamiliar city being like a jungle to him. A daughter being born handicapped complicates matters while also providing him with that best friend for life that he really needs.
About the Author: Rhonda Partin-Sharp comes from an Appalachian lineage. Her memories combined with stories she heard of previous generations have nurtured her as a storyteller. Although she received higher education in literature and writing and worked as a writer in various non-fiction forms, she feels her heart is what made her a storyteller, and her heart is tied to the mountains that were the lifeblood of many generations before her. Those mountains contain much beauty, and some clans also have many secrets, secrets that everyone knows. Rhonda was born in the middle of those two extremes. She once wrote that she was born on a tight rope between heaven and hell, and the journey of her life was to determine which side she would land on when she left that tightrope. The heaven side taught her the compassion and generosity that the people of the Appalachian mountains are known for, especially among their own people. She loved people so deeply on the hell side that she learned to try to understand why people do what they do, so you could continue to love them. The combination of these two personal attributes often made her so generous and understanding that she made herself a scapegoat in relationships that didn't earn that much understanding and consideration. She worked hard to gain the personal growth required to learn to set the right boundaries with people. This work improved, and continues to improve, her life so much that she hopes to pay forward the lessons she learned. This is one of the goals of her writing.
